CAN CAMERA'S STOP CRIME LET'S EXAMINE WHAT CRIME IS ?

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Black-Knowledge/214574530309?v=wall&story_fbid=114446745272270

There are talks in some cities (some cities already have it) about having surveillance cameras in neighborhoods with high crime rates. What are your thoughts on this? Do you believe having these Cameras can help reduce the crimes or could it give more reasons for law enforcers to racial profile?

Michael Walters i dont see what watching people commit crimes is gonna help. They got soldiers in the middle east, but here in America, gangs themselves are terrorists, they need to do something about THAT. They need to be getting drugs outta those communities and rebuilding that society. Or maybe not they, maybe "we". If you want something done, you gotta take action. No one seems to really care though.

Ricochet is the natural order of things...so whatever their reason it will benefit us from them. I'm not doing anything to worry about cameras watching me....but there may be something I am overlooking so I am interested to hear the other opinions.

La Tanya K Walton-Brown we have them in my city Buffalo, New York ...and yes they have helped alot. They help slove murders, by catching the murder on camera...if there is a drive by, the camera catch the whole thing as well as the plate numbers...I think that they do help deter crime or at less make a person that is about to do something think for a minute when they see the blue light flashing at every other street light !!

Keshia Shantae after listening to rosa clemente discuss the difference btwn racial profiling and racial survalence, i now understand that survalence is a greater offense on personal Liberty than profiling because the later is a a more direct form of (terrorist) Occupation... i wonder if Survalence Prevents Crime? i rather my taxes be spent on Crime Deterrants and Community Upkeep

Taneisha Anderson Ha! Those cameras are all over Chi city and drugs still pass from hand to hand right under them; block dudes are still releasing heat, so what's the real purpose? To look at the footage while eating coffee and doughnuts and laughing as they watch us destroy ourselves?

Victoria L. McDonald I think that these surveillance Cameras are a great idea. If the areas in which these cameras are placed have a high crime rate and a possible solution to reduce crime is for the government to play 'Big Brother' than so be it. As for the racial aspect-if the criminals are black, white, hispanic, or asian, the crime is still being committed. It's not racist if the perpetrators of these crimes are black-is the white man making the black man kill, rob, and steal? No, he is doing it on his own volition. However, the gov't should ensure that they place cameras in ALL high crime areas regardless of whether the area is predominantly white, black, or whatever, crime is crime and it this is the only way that crime can be reduced than go for it. No one likes to be robbed, beaten, or abused, and as much as everyone claims to hate the cops, when someone hurts you who are the first people you call (outside of your family and clique) the cops. If the neighborhoods cant form a neighborhood watch program to help keep crime down and we allow cops to infiltrate our communities and run a muck then there are several issues to be address. (1) why cant we control and raise our own? (2) why have we allowed our communities to deteriorate? (3) why arent we taking an active role is combating crime and raising our children in a healthy environment? (4) why have we allowed outsiders to come into OUR communities enforcing their laws and mafia style 'policing'? (5) why are we complaining when we know damn well we arent going to do anything about it?-Lets be real, how many of us or our family members even vote on a local level? I dont mean to rant and rave, but this issue is not as much about race as we may think it is. To equate excessive violence with racism only shows that you think that certain races are more prone to violence than others. Race is not a determining factor in the rate of violence,-however the home and family environment from which a person stems from IS a determining factor in violence.

Amanda Orlowski If the statistics show the neighborhood does indeed have high crime then why not? A lot of crimes go unsolved nowadays because there is no witnesses or evidence. For the sake of the victims wouldnt it be nice to know that there is a better chance of catching the people committing the crimes?

Mike Gray I'M FULLY AGAINST IT! I'm not advocating crime but unless u can put cameras everywhere, the crimes just change location. How about we use that money to improve quality of life in these areas!!!
12 hours ago · Unlike · 4 people ·
Derrick Fair The cameras are not there to reduce or prevent crime. They are there to get people used to the Big Brother presence,so eventually they can have cameras everywhere, watching and intruding in every aspect of public and private life. They only place them in the ghettos first because they know they can use the crime issue as an excuse and no one will say or do anything about it.Soon you won't be able to go anywhere without being on camera.

Roy Langford II In my area it has increased police response time and resulted in the quicker apprehension of the perps. The down side is that they took their business to areas where there are no cameras.

Hellsent Watkins ‎@victoria. i see where u are coming from. you're saying that we're the reason for all this fuckery going on. i can agree with you that some of it is placed on us but u got to look a lil deeper. the reason our neighborhoods are fucked up is because we are not properly educated. niggas don't read. niggas wanna look good and party all time. we are not concerned with uplifting our communities because we like how they are. most niggas don't think anything is wrong with how they are living. somebody needs to educate the people without becoming a martyr. subconsciously we know that if we try to make a change somebody will assassinate us by bullets or the media.

Victoria L. McDonald ‎@Hellsent <--is that really your name? How frightening- But anyway, I am not saying that we are the main reasons why we have so much crime in our community. I think that many of us, generations past, and in the present, have been whitewashed by many Eurocentric ideas and have been playing the position of a pawn since our first encounters with them. We have become apart of the problem that they created, and we are now perpetuating the problem. It's not fully our fault, but we are resposible for our actions and the actions (or inactions) of our children. I agree with you 100% with the ignorance level of our people. We'd much rather watch Tyler Perry and his gay subliminal messages than read a book about our ancestors great achievements pre-european encounter. Shame on us-we need to do better. Untill then, let the police handle us, let them kill and abuse us, because in reality, as shocking is it may sound, we are not doing any worse to our own people than they are. They kill us, we kill us, they give us drugs, we give us drugs, they open centers to abort us, and we utilize them regularly. They are just giving us the ammunition and we are playing russian roulette with our lives and communities. 12 hours ago · Unlike · 2 people · John Kenneth Danzy ‎@ Hellsent -> I don't understand what's so gay about music. I don't understand that part of your comment, or what it has to do with the topic. Deidre Campbell I think that would deter the frequency of crimes yes, but I am weary of the surveillance methods of our government and law enforcement agencies. I feel there is enough intrusion into the privacy of the citizens of this country, therefore it is unlikely that I would approve such a venture.

John Kenneth Danzy ‎@ Victoria -> I think you're playing right into the hands of the system of the machine. If what you say is true, then government, and the police force that supports it, would be more community activated, and less aggressive and agitating towards the people they are supposed to be protecting and serving. I once had a cop say one of the most chilling things I ever heard. He said I could put a murder case on you, and there would be nothing you could do about it -- I'm a cop, they'll (courts et al.) would believe me! That is too much power in the hands of people who are incapable of handling said power. Not to mention the ability of people to manipulate cameras and video footage to appear however they want it to. With two seconds of footage on you, I could make it appear that you have committed a crime. A retired police officer in the city of Chicago was just convicted for perjury following several trials involving police torture. Do you really want to further empower these types? By buying into this "reducing crime" theory that's just what you're doing. If the death penalty doesn't reduce crime, do you really think a camera will? Reduce poverty; that'll reduce crime!
11 hours ago · Unlike · 2 people ·
Karen Williams Absolutely! However, the question is-Will it drive crime elsewhere? There is a reason people commit crime, and the cameras will equate to push and pull factors. The cameras will push them out (from under the cameras) and crime will be pulled to other areas!
11 hours ago · Unlike · 1 person ·
John Kenneth Danzy Perhaps they should install cameras to monitor Wallstreet; cameras to monitor government -- like the George Bushes of the world; cameras to monitor the Bernie Maydoffs of the world -- oh, but those are "white collar crimes." Maybe they should install cameras to watch the government backed C.I.A., who's responsible for bringing the drugs into the country to begin with.

Uhuru Imane i like all responses i can say this cameras work sometimes to catch crime in the act sometimes it dont. their is crime on levels in the hood that happens in government that we will never see. i think to stop crime we dont need cameras to show crime we need cameras to show people uniting protesting and uniting taking a stand coast to coast globally to stop all the violence and seperations among the people in the form of cyber gang stalking gangs controlling communities drugs and the people who bring the guns drugs into our lives to destroy us. the system is corrupt and the only way to stop a corrupt system is to not feed into it or give it more power. what the NWO does is feed off of our ignorance. the more we let gangs and killers and copppers and the people who control them get away with poisoning us then they win. the money they make ona daily basis can never be made by one person or wont gang it takes all of them all the time. but if the people united and stopped it said no to it and fought back and are willing to lose life and limb then things would change we have to stop it from the hood the hollywood to governments of the world. just think black people were brought to america to serve the british and europeans in england by way of destroying africa for the world. so ask yourself black people in america us being us despite slavery is a crime so anything that happens here has been in design for years how are we supposed to stop that design from goverment a constitution amendaments laws military police navy fbi cia and shawdow govenrments right in our neighborhoods invading our lives. when marcus garvey wrote go back to africa to save your people he meant it for a reason he knew the more we stayed in america the more we are gonna be destroyed. our ignorace makes the elite billions a day to keep us down in the lives we live middle class lower class poor and poverty gang life jail life and so forth no college no mansions no positions of power in government or state or local poliitics. our people and this is not a race thing cuz you see this is happening in all races. but the problem is why cant people of color unite and say enough is enough lets not feed into the system. lets not buy lets no comply until the murders stop so we wont need to police our areas or have cameras or drugs or gangs or the government or NWO or any form of terrorism coming down on our heads. if we take away the need to commit violence and improve our living areas wit the money they take from us daily then crime would stop but if people dont have anything then i dont see crime stopping. long story short if your kids hungry and your bills do and you go no job or homeless or in a gang or in government when you go to work you dont think about the other person getting hurt you just think im doing my job cuz you need the money. but think about the other person you hurting. think about the family you taking a life away from. people in power abuse their power they know it and its time regular people change the status quo of their power effecting our lives they wouldnt want to be treated like animals or savages or slaves and have their lives destroyed like that so why do they keep it up cuz we let them we dont read we dont care we to tired we to lazy we dont have power yes we do we can say no we cant stop it it takes people to recognize all the issues on all levels to stop it. the only way for crime to stop is to stop it from the top. but most people dont understand. they want to live how they want without being told what to do. but think about those your hurting people who are doing the hurting and only considering it as a job. all i really can say is money is the root of all evil. money enslaves all people. if money never existed and people cared really the world would change.
